A1 RADAR SENSOR

The A1 radar sensor is a low power, high precision, pulsed short-range radar sensor with a footprint of only 29 mm2. The A1 radar sensor is delivered as a one chip system in package (SiP) solution with embedded radio and antenna. The small size and low power consumption are ideal for integration into compact battery-driven and mobile devices.

 

The A1 radar sensor is based on a unique patented technology enabling millimeter accuracy with very low power consumption. By operating in the 60 GHz unlicensed ISM radio band, the radar sensor provides robust performance without interference from noise, dust, color nor direct or indirect light. Radio technology makes the sensor easy to integrate without the need for an aperture. The A1 radar sensor can detect multiple objects at close range with single measurements as well as continuous sweeps set to any frequency up to 1500 Hz. The unique characteristics of the A1 radar sensor make it possible to identify materials and detect motion in advanced sensor applications.

XM122 IoT MODULE

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The XM122 IoT Module from Acconeer is a low power connected radar module with optimized circular form factor with a diameter of 33mm.

 

This IoT module integrates the A111 Pulsed Coherent Radar and the Nordic nRF52840 System on Chip that supports a 32-bit 64 MHz ARM® Cortex™-M4 CPU with 256 KB SRAM and 1 MB Flash including support for Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, 802.15.4 and ANT. The XM122 IoT module features integrated 2.4 GHz antenna and support for external 2.4 GHz antenna.

The XM122 IoT module has been developed as a reference module that can be used to support customers in their own design for commercial use, as well as for evaluation and development purpose with the XB122 breakout board.

 

The XM122 can be used as a stand-alone module where customers can embed their application on top of the Acconeer RSS (Radar System Software) using the RSS API (Application Programming Interface). It can also be used with an external host controller where communication to the module is through a register command protocol using one of the following interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART.

 

The Acconeer RSS including a Software Development Kit (SDK) for stand-alone usage is available for download to the XM122 via the Acconeer developer page. An exploration Tool which helps visualize the radar measurement results can also be downloaded at Acconeer Github.

XM112 HIGH PERFORMANCE MODULE

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Acconeer’s XM112 pulsed coherent radar module offers high precision distance measurement with mm accuracy and high update rate frequency.

The pulsed coherent radar module XM112 from Acconeer is a 24 mm x 16 mm module that integrates the A111 pulsed coherent radar and a 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M7 ATSAME70Q20A microprocessor on the same printed circuit board (PCB). The ATSAME70Q20A is equipped with 384 Kbytes SRAM and 1 MB Flash and has a maximum core processor frequency of 300 MHz.

The XM112 is a reference module that can be integrated into a product via the slim 30-pin board-to-board connector to decrease users cost and time for bringing a product to market. The XM112 can also be used as an evaluation kit together with the breakout board XB112.

The XB112 is powered via a standard 5 V USB cable and contains a 1.8 V power supply as well as a USB-UART converter, so that the XM112 can be controlled from an external host computer via the USB port.

The XM112 is delivered with Acconeer RSS software including SDK (Software Development Kit) for stand-alone usage where customer can embed their own application on top of Acconeer RSS software. Acconeer RSS software provides API to set A111 sensor configuration and to retrieve supported radar services and detector data.

The XM112 module can also be controlled by external host using register based protocol (UART, SPI and I2C).

The module is suitable for applications in various market segments such as IoT, automotive, industrial, robots, drones, smart cities, healthcare, mobile and wearables, and power tools.

DEVELOPMENT KIT

DESCRIPTION

To facilitate the development of new and innovative applications, Acconeer offers a development kit, X112. The development kit includes a connector board and a radar sensor board with the ability to use up to four A1 radar sensors simultaneously. XC112 has a small form factor and enables flexible placement of the radar sensor with radar sensor board XR112 connected via a flat flexible Cable.

The development kit is designed to interface a standard Raspberry Pi 2/3 where the A1 radar sensor software can be installed to enable rapid prototyping.

 

X112 development kit includes:

  • XC112 connector board with the possibility to connect up to four XR112 radar sensor boards.​​

  • XR112 reference board with one A1 radar sensor and one flat, flexible cable.​​

  • A1 software development kit (A1 SDK), including application programming interface (API).

A1 SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT KIT

DESCRIPTION

The A1 SDK includes radar sensor services, detectors and our application programming interface (API). The kit provides the user with a quick and easy start for developing new applications and integrating the A1 radar sensor into existing solutions. Radar services and detectors are built with state-of-the-art algorithms, filters and radar data to enable a broad spectrum of use cases.

 

The A1 SDK is written in C and is portable to any operating system or hardware platform.
